Northern shore of Wisconsin has a very nice attraction to offer – Apostle Islands. None of the islands is inhabited but you can easily visit them on the boat. In Bayfield, which is a small tourist town on Bayfield peninsula, you can take one of the tours offered by “Apostle Island Cruises” company. Each cruise will take you to at least one lighthouse and shore caves. The tour we chose, took us to Raspberry and Sand Island lighthouses and around the peninsula to the Sea Caves.
Bayfield is also a connection port with Madeline Island where ferries land in La Pointe. One way trip takes 20 minutes, and you can have your car with you on the ferry. If you only plan to see La Pointe, car will be useful. As for me, Madeline Island was kind of disappointing and boring but it’s up to you.
