New York is the city which should be visited at least once in lifetime. The list of tourist attractions within Manhattan only is very long, and everybody can pick up what they like the most. Our route, after checking-in at the hotel, began from a world-famous landmark – Empire State Building. Visiting starts with the new 2nd Floor Exhibits and then you are taken to the 86th floor in just 45 seconds.
New York, as many other major cities, offers BigBus rides. Ticket covers 2 lines: red, going uptown, and blue one leading through downtown. At Columbus Circle we met our friends, so we went enjoying some local food together and a walk in the Central Park. We left the park at W 74th street, where John Lennon was deadly shot in 1980. After we waved our friends good bye, we walked to the Times Square – a place known of neons, light signs, crowd and noise (and dirt unfortunately).
Last day of our stay was the most intense. We started it with the visit in the 9/11 museum and memorial. The guide says that walking through the museum takes 2 hours but we could spend even a full day there. Memorial looks impressive – 2 big pools cover exactly the space of two twin towers attacked in 2001. Within the same block you can visit the One World Trade Center tower which offers the 102nd floor 360’ observatory.
The most memorable attraction for us was the cruise on Hudson River and seeing Manhattan panorama from the water. The boat also took us close to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty of course. Since it was a 90’ cruise, we saw the famous Brooklyn Bridge as well and the other side of Manhattan from the East River.
If I ever go back to New York, I will visit 9/11 museum again. I didn’t see the famous Charging Bull, or Washington Square Arch, so these two will be my primary destinations for the future trip.
