For bday weekend we chose Louisiana and its main city New Orleans. Program was pretty packed but thanks to that we saw a lot. We started from walking the Frenchman street and trying cajun fish po-boys. Then the stroll headed to French market and Jefferson square. Right next to the square there is St.Louis cathedral and just a few steps to Mississippi river. What's weird is that the river here is all brown, which means it changes its color on the way down to the Gulf of America. As temp.and humidity make everyone tired and sweaty, visit at Cafe du Monde is a must. We tried local treat there - baignets. The next day we visited St.Louis cemetery as the cemeteries here look quite different in the South that in Midwest. All afternoon and evening we spent on the most famous street in New Orleans - Bourbon. Interesting place I must say. In the city it's worth to commute by street-car which looks like trolley. That's what we did to get to Sculpture Garden and Garden district.
