Since my father-in-law was relocated to Veteran's Nursing Home in Virginia Beach, we haven't seen him. Around his 91st birthday we decided to visit him, so we bought the flight tickets to Washington DC, rented a car and drove to Virginia.
Veteran Home is huge, modern and well maintained, but Virginia Beach is mostly know of its direct location at the Ocean. Beaches are also the main tourist point. Near Boardwalk, which is the main beach promenade, you can see the heart of the city. Hotels were fully packed in mid-August, so was the beach.
I'm not much of a beach person but Kyle enjoyed the stay, even took a dive in the ocean. But we did a few attractions like bike rental, short drive to North Carolina and the most important to me- went to see Cape Henry Lighthouse (first US lighthouse, founded by George Washington himself).
